The Greene Hills Club swim team competed in the Jefferson Swim League Championship at UVA’s Aquatic and Fitness Center July 25-26. Sixteen teams participated, and competitors were ages 5-18.
Greene Hills Gators’ assistant coach Martha Taylor said her team had roughly 90 percent time improvement overall. “It’s what we work for all year,” she added.
Fellow assistant coach Cherie Adair said, “In addition to the time improvement, our kids showed great team spirit and sportsmanship.”
For the third year in a row, the Greene Hills team received the Sportsmanship Award for its division.
At the end of the meet, The Greene Hills coaches swam in a relay and placed second.
“We lost by less than a second,” said Taylor. “We’re proud of ourselves because we swam against coaches half our ages. It’s pretty amazing.”
Taylor added: “We’re proud of this season and are looking forward to next year as we carry on the Greene Hills Gators tradition.”
