Greene County Public Schools is pleased to announce that Kyle Pursel has been appointed as the new principal of William Monroe Middle School effective July 1. Pursel replaces Debbie Dupell who retired earlier this school year.
Mr. Pursel was the unanimous selection of both the central office interview team and the interview committee composed of teachers and parents from William Monroe. “We were very fortunate to have several excellent candidates, but I agreed with the opinion of both committees. I interviewed all the candidates and Kyle stood out as someone who clearly has the ability to bring a renewed spirit of teamwork, collaboration, and community involvement to William Monroe Middle School,” stated newly appointed Greene County Superintendent David Jeck.
Pursel has been a teacher and assistant principal in Albemarle County for the past 10 years. Originally from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Kyle attended the University of Illinois where he was a member of the Fighting Illini Marching Band. He holds a masters degree in education from the University of Virginia and is currently an assistant principal at Jack Jouett Middle School. Kyle, his wife Lauren, and their twin daughters currently reside in Greene County
