Local man charged in abduction of 23-year-old female

On April 3 at approximately 11 p.m. a 23-year-old female resident of Greene County was abducted by her ex-boyfriend, from her home located in the Stanardsville area of Greene County, based on information from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
The female reported being assaulted and threatened throughout the duration of the event, until she was able to escape from the abductor by jumping out of the vehicle as it slowed down near the Chris Greene Lake entrance, located in Albemarle County. The victim was able to ascertain assistance from a nearby house and called 911. The Albemarle County Police Department responded and subsequently notified the Greene County Sheriff’s Office around 00:45 hours of the incident.
The suspect, identified as Travis Lee Devault, a 36-year-old male, was taken into custody without incident from a traffic stop in Greene County, after law enforcement spotted the vehicle matching the information and description given by the victim.
Travis Lee Devault has been charged with 18.2-47 Abduction, a felony. He is currently being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange County.
Further charges could follow from the ongoing investigation.
