To the Editor:
The Women’s Club of Greene County expresses gratitude to our generous community for supporting the Food Bank.
The local Food Lion donates bakery items each week to feed the hungry. Curves sponsors an annual food drive that gives much needed food in the spring. Microaire Surgical Instruments has also been involved in yearly food drives helping out the Food Bank.
On May 10, the carriers at the Ruckersville and Stanardsville Post Offices collected non-perishable food along their mail routes. This “Stamp Out Hunger” campaign supplies the Food Bank when the shelves are nearly empty, and provides food for local people as gas and food prices soar. The wonderful staff at the Social Services office in Greene County distributes the food. During the year, many area churches, schools, businesses, and individuals donate money and food. This community effort keeps the Food Bank well stocked. The Women’s Club of Greene County recognizes and thanks all of the people who contribute food, money and time for the betterment of our community.
