To the Editor:
While our country is busy fighting two wars abroad and fighting to save our economy at home, Virgil Goode is selfishly fighting only for himself. With our country in full-on crisis mode, Goode chose to back out of a scheduled debate with Tom Perriello in favor of a fundraising appearance. Basically, that means he’d rather take checks from them than take questions from us.
As our representative in Washington, Virgil Goode has done wonderful things for, well, Virgil Goode. But when it comes to taking care of the working people of the Fifth District, he’s done little but vote in lockstep with the party bosses and lobbyists who tell him what to think and how to vote.
Virgil Goode has long been an embarrassment to this District and this Commonwealth. But his refusal to keep his word and attend this debate—especially at such a critical time in our nation’s history—is, quite simply, the act of a coward.
We deserve better.
