There was a time when the public school day opened with Bible reading and prayer. There was a time when living together unmarried was known to be contrary to God’s will. There was a time when having a child out of wedlock was not the morally responsible way to bring a child into the world. There was a time when spanking a child was not child abuse. There was a time when drunkenness was not considered a disease. There was a time when abortion was killing a human life. There was a time when alternate lifestyles were culturally and morally unacceptable. There was a time when those who would not salute the American flag were considered un-American and those who dishonored it were traitors. There was a time that when our nation went to war we were united and victory over the enemy was the only acceptable solution. There was a time when we were taught that in order to have things we must work and pay for them ourselves. There was a time when a person’s morality and integrity were a prerequisite to public office. There was a time when pornography and cursing were not protected free speech rights. There was a time when the Bible was believed to be God’s word and His word was to be the governing principle for our nation and its people.
Some in our society rejoice and believe we have progressed from what we once were; but those who know and understand the times are saddened; and they who sense our culture’s impending peril also know that it is imperative that America return to that upon which it was founded-the Bible.
What time is it? It is time to be blessed. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.“ Psalm 33:12
