Ever gone to a restaurant and had to settle for what was on the menu, rather than what you were really craving?
Or have you ever went to the store to buy a greeting card, only to find that the ones on the shelf don’t quite fit what you want to say?
Dissatisfaction is nothing uncommon to Americans—particularly when it comes to voting for presidential candidates.
Apparently this year is no exception.
Based on recent polls, nearly half of likely voters in this country - 48%, to be exact - are dissatisfied with the current candidates for president: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain.
Consider the result of the survey released earlier this month, where 7,562 likely voters were polled:
• 49 percent said they would never vote for Hillary Clinton, while 44 percent said they would never voter for Barack Obama. 42 percent said John McCain would never get their support.
• A whopping 86 percent of self-described “very conservative” voters said they are displeased with the current presidential candidates.
• One in 10 Republicans said they would never vote for McCain; 78 percent of Republicans surveyed said they would never vote for Obama; and 74 percent said they would never vote for Clinton .
• Among female voters, 37 percent said they would never vote for Obama; 41 percent said they would never vote for Clinton; and 48 percent said they would never vote for John McCain.
• And an estimated 57 percent of men said they would never vote for Clinton, while 50 percent said the same of Obama. About 36 percent said they would never vote for McCain.
So what to do?
Looks as though the presidential hopefuls have a long way to go to win over voters.
But hopefully it won’t keep voters at home come November.
