“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” Climb down from that stuffy tower and head over to the Greene Library and spend the summer reading, doing crafts and playing games with your girlfriends. Join the Rapunzels, a summer reading club just for tween girls, ages 9-12. The club meets Wednesday evenings 7-8:30 p.m., starting June 25-August 13.
Bring your imagination to every club meeting as book discussions will include writing for the Rapunzels book wiki, jewelry making, challenging the librarians in a word “Survivor” game and participating in a real English tea party.
The first book the girls will read is “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin. The Rapunzels themselves will choose the other three books. The first 12 girls to sign up will receive copies of the books to keep. Registration is required so contact the Greene Library (985-5227) and register today.
You guys are welcome at the library, too! Back for another summer of reading fun are The Book Sharks, a reading club for boys ages 11-14, that meets on Wednesday nights, too. Greene Library also offers two ongoing reading groups: Book Babes, for girls ages 14 and up, meets on the last Monday of each month, and the First Thursdays Book Group for adults, meets at 7 p.m. in the library.
For more information about reading groups throughout the JMRL system, check out the library website:www.jmrl.org.
