“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith and is worse than an infidel,” I Timothy 5:8.
This coming Sunday is Father’s Day, and we may be reminded that all fathers have a responsibility to take care of their families. Taking care of our family is a responsibility to which God will hold us accountable.
For a father to neglect the responsibility of taking care of his own family, the Bible says he has (1) “denied the faith” and (2) “is worse than an infidel.” In plain English, a neglected father is a no-’count scoundrel!
In providing for one’s own house, a father must meet the spiritual needs, the physical needs, and the material needs of his household. Furthermore, a father has the responsibility of assuming the leadership of his own house and to lead his family in the faith.
This coming Sunday is Father’s Day. Fathers, let us step up to the plate and be in church with our families this Sunday. Let us give testimony by our walk that we are assuming our God-given responsibility.
