“Let us get up early to the vineyards: let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves,” Song of Solomon 7:12.
In this verse, the bride is speaking to the bridegroom; and she is willing to arise early to the work in the vineyards. In doing so, she will be giving to the bridegroom her love.
In the text, the bride makes reference to a flourishing vine, the tender grape, and the budding pomegranates. A flourishing vine would be a flourishing work, one in which could be seen the great results; the tender grape would be a work that is in need of special care and patience before seeing the results; and the budding pomegranates would be work just starting, one which has a great potential; for the pomegranates are filled with seeds.
If we have love for the Lord, regardless of whether we have a flourishing work, or a budding work, we will arise early; and His work will be our priority.
