The Bible teaches the sovereignty of God and the free will of man. Matthew 22:14 reads, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” As you read the preceding verses of Matthew 22, you will see all that were called. Some that were called to the marriage of the king’s son “would not come.” There were others that “made light” of being called, and there were some who treated the king’s servants that did the calling “spitefully” and even “slew them.” Again, the king would send forth his servants and “all” that responded and put on “a wedding garment” were chosen to participate in the marriage of the king’s son.
Now in this parable, “many are called but few are chosen.” The ones that were chosen by the king are the ones who responded to the call and had on a wedding garment. Also, the ones who responded to the call and had on a wedding garment came of their own free will.
Yes, there is a marriage of God’s Son to a bride; and all that will be at the marriage must have on the garment of His righteousness. So may we conclude that God in His sovereignty is choosing those who chose to come of their own free will?
