To be happy does onot depend on happenings. Psalm 128 gives us the key to true happiness. As we read the psalm, it states: “Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.”
To have a happy and well-adjusted life is truly the desire of every rational thinking human being. To have this, we must see the starting point, the pathway, and the end results.
The starting point is found in Psalm 128:1, “Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord. “To fear the Lord” is to trust the one and only true God, the Bible as His inerrant word, and His salvation which is in Christ Jesus.
The pathway to follow is to “walk in His ways.” What it means to “walk in His ways,” is revealed in the subsequent verses. We are to labor with our hands and to take care of our family (wife and children). Putting the Lord first, working, and providing for our families is the prescription for happiness.
According to Psalm 128, the end result of following His path is to see the blessing of the Lord. The end result is that we will see good all the days of our lives and our children’s children and us will see peace. To be a happy, well-adjusted person, the prescription is found in Psalm 128, which was written by the Physician who knows.
