Big Ball’ Co-Ed Softball League
League Play begins on Sept 7. Season ends on Oct 26, 2008.  Registration Deadline: Aug. 15, 2008. Age requirement—16 years—up.  Must have a minimum of five women per team.  Games played at WMMS.  Men play with a 16” ball, while women use a standard ball.  Cost is $150 per Team.  Must have a minimum of four teams—a maximum of six teams. Contact the Parks and Recreation to register a team.
Youth Flag Football & Cheerleading (Rising K-2 Grades)
Boys and girls ages 5 – 7 can participate in our local flag or cheerleading program.  Our teams will play against other Parks & Recreation systems in the area.  Participants cannot turn 8 after August 1st, 2008.  Registration deadline Friday, August 8, 2008 and Late registration deadline August 11th, if space is available.  Coaches meeting Thursday, August 14th GCAB 6 p.m.
Aug. 25 Saturday TBA 10 a.m.  8 wks.  $40
CPR & First Aid Classes
This class offers American Heart Association certification in adult CPR along with Standard First Aid.  Registration deadline is Wednesday May 7th for the May 17th class and Wednesday, Jul 16th for the Jul 26th class.  Class Maximum—6.  If you need both CPR & First Aid, the fee is $95.  If you need only one or the other, the fee is $42.50.  Contact the Parks and Recreation office to register—434-985-5226.

Painting with Christine Smith
This is for artist at all levels.  Leave the class with a finished original production created by you!  Christine will instruct you all the way to the end.  All materials provided and there are no strong paint fumes to contend with.  Class must have at least 4 and no more than 10 artists.  The title of the May 31st picture—”Hummingbird” on a 12 x 16 inch canvas.  On July 26th the title will be “Apartments for Rent,” on a 12 x 24 inch canvas.  Please call the Parks and Recreation Office to register, 434-985-5226.  Cost for attending the classes is $60.  There will be cutoff dates for each registration as Christine needs time to prepare a canvas for each participant.  The cutoff date is three days prior to the class.

Chesapeake Bay Charter Fishing Trip—August 2, 2008
Join Captain David Fisher aboard the all new “Heritage” for some of the best angling action to be had in Virginia and Maryland waters.  Captain Fisher has over 20 years fishing experience on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay off the Northern Neck and lower Potomac River.  April through November, the “Heritage” departs from Buzzard’s Point Marina near Reedville.  Registration:  Book early as our fishing trip sell out early.  1/2 of fee due at time of booking, Balance due - July 19, 2008 GCAB 3 a.m.—9 p.m.  $110
Fall Youth Soccer Program
This recreational and instructional league is for boys and girls ages 4½ - 12.  Boys and girls will be randomly placed on teams according to age and gender.  No special coaching and player requests will be accepted unless they’re siblings.  Coaches are needed for all age groups and will receive a registration waiver for (1) child.  Pre-registrations will be taken at the end of season picnic (Spring 2008).  General registration will begin June 9, 2008.  Registrations will end August 1st with a $5.00 late fee after that date and only if spaces are available.  Please see the age groupings listed below:
