Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Rt. 810, Dyke Road, will hold Spring Revival through Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. with guest speaker, the Rev. Buster Payne. There will be special music each evening and a fellowship meal at 6 p.m. on Saturday before the final service. Come and join us for an old-time revival.

A Gospel Jam Session will be held at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church, 225 Spicer’s Mill Road, Orange, Friday, May 2 at 7 p.m. All are welcome; bring instruments and sing. Refreshments will be served afterwards. For more information call Pastor Paul Kirk at 540-854-8799.

Breakfast buffet/bake and yard sale Saturday, May 3 at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Road, Dyke; yard sale from 8 a.m. to 12-noon and the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Adults $5; children 6-10, $2.50 and children under five, free.
St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church annual plant sale is Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 14414 Isidore Way, Rt. 15 South of Orange. Special gift boutique for Mother’s Day or for your garden! Plants, bulbs, small shrubs from church members gardens, and starter vegetable plants from two area nurseries including annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and herbs; advice freely given. Homecoming and revival service with Evangelist Jerry Whiteheart, at Bethel Baptist Church begins Sunday, May 3, with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and homecoming worship service at 11 a.m. followed by a wonderful dinner in the fellowship hall. Services begin at 7:30 p.m. each night Sunday through Wednesday, with an ice cream social Wednesday night following the service. Special singing will feature Carl and Donna Menefee on Sunday (both services), Stanardsville Baptist Choir on Monday, Family and Friends (with Roy Brown) on Tuesday and Jimmy and Debbie Lamb on Wednesday. Bethel Baptist Church, Wendell Lamb, pastor, is located at the corner of Burnley Station, Route 641, and Watts Passage, Rt. 600, just off Rt. 29, four miles south of Ruckersville. May 4
Rock Hall Baptist Church, Wolftown, invites the public to the Men and Women’s Day Service on May 4 beginning with the 11 a.m. service. Evangelist Shirley Strother will deliver the spoken word for the women and Antioch Baptist Church Choir will render songs of praise. At 3 p.m. the Rev. Maurice Evans, along with his choir and congregation, will deliver the proclaimed word of God for the men’s service.
May 9
Abundant Life Christian Fellowship will hold a Gospel Sing May 9 beginning with a 6 p.m. covered-dish dinner, at 7 p.m. open stage and at 8 p.m. 4 The Lord, based in Richmond will entertain. Take Rt. 20 north of Orange to Rt. 631 across from Orange Co. Airport; go to large white church on the right. A love offering will be received; bring a covered dish if you like. Everyone is welcome. Spring Revival at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Tanners, is May 14-16 with evangelism as the topic and the Rev. Nathaniel Butler as revivalist.
May 24
The 2008 Spring Hill Tour de Greene will be Saturday, May 24 at 8 a.m. Run, walk, kid dash, bike ride; come and join Spring Hill May 24 at Dover Foxcroft Farm, as we run and bike our way to a better education for Greene County. All proceeds will benefit the Greene County Education Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Greene.

Spring Hill Baptist Church is holding a car show and chili cook-off Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have a classic car, truck or motorcycle you would like to display at the show or if you would like to compete in the chili cook-off, call Tom at (434) 985-2780.

Tuesday’s Table, a ministry providing a free meal to anyone in need, whether the need is economic, spiritual, fellowship, or whatever (no questions asked) is held every Tuesday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Court Street (across from the Courthouse) in downtown Stanardsville. Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
