July 24
Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 3595 Grand Forks Boulevard, Charlottesville, off Airport Road, continues Vacation Bible School through July 24. The theme is “Power Lab, discovering Jesus’ miraculous power.” Power Lab at Laurel Hill is for children five and up; even teenagers enjoy signing-on as crew leaders who help younger children. Parents, grandparents and friends are invited to come and share in the fun with their children. The fun will start at 5:30 p.m. when dinner is served; $2 per person or $10 per family. July 24-25
Stanardsville United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School (Surfin’ through the Scriptures) will be held through Friday, July 25 with preschooler VBS beginning at 5 p.m. with dinner and ending at 7:15 and VBS for kindergarten and up 6-8:30 p.m. At this beach party your children will become surfers riding the wave of God’s love and will experience beachcomber crafts, singing, rockin’ rec games, Bible-story time learning the beach ‘be-attitudes’ and tasty snacks and missions at the snack shack. Come and enjoy the surf and sand at Stanardsville UMC across from the courthouse in Stanardsville through Friday, July 25. Contact Amy Wayland at 985-7466 for more information.

Shiloh Church of the Brethren, Middle River Road (Rt. 667) will host revival services through July 25 at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Garnett Myers from Pennsylvania as guest speaker. Special music at 7 p.m., followed by the message at 7:30. Homecoming will be held Sunday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a covered-dish meal. Everyone is welcome. July 26
Bingham United Methodist Church, Dyke, will have a one-day Bible School on Saturday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information call 832-5364. The pastor is Buster Payne.

Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church will have a fellowship social to welcome our new minister and family on July 26 at 5 p.m. All members of the Greene Charge are invited. Hot dogs, cake and ice cream will be provided, please bring a covered-dish to share. On Aug. 2 there will be a yard sale at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church shelter from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come for great bargains.

July 28-31
Emmanuel Christian Center will hold Vacation Bible School Monday-Thursday, July 28-31 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The theme is “Chosen Champions for Jesus,” with classes for all ages. For more information or transportation contact the church office at 985-6401.

Aug. 2
On Aug. 2 there will be a yard sale at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church shelter from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come for great bargains.

Aug.  9 and Aug. 12-16
A Demolition Derby will be held at Rt. 230, Madison Road, Stanardsville, August 9 at 7 p.m. This event is sponsored by Greene County Fair, Inc. The Greene County Fair will be held August 12-16, on Rt. 230 in Stanardsville. There will be rides, games, food, bluegrass music, animals and something for everyone.

Swift Run Baptist Church is getting children connected to God; parents bring your children to join us for our new and exciting Children’s Church. Tuesday’s Table is a ministry providing a free meal to anyone in need, whether the need is economic, spiritual, fellowship, or whatever (no questions asked) is held every Tuesday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Court Street (across from the Courthouse) in downtown Stanardsville.  Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
