July 17-18
Revival services continue at Bethel Baptist Church (four miles south of Ruckersville, corner of Burnley Station Road, Rt. 641) with Evangelist Don McCann as speaker Thursday-Friday, July 17-18 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Nursery and special singing provided at each service. An ice cream social will be held Friday following the program. Everyone is welcome.
Vacation Bible School Back-to-Basics continues through July 18 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Amicus Seventh-day Adventist Church, 15075 Spotswood Trail, Route 33. We will be featuring crafts involving sewing, gardening, woodworking, food preparation and hands-on nature exploration.
July 20
Helping and empowering residents in need - Greene Alliance of Church and Community Efforts (GRACE) Summer (second quarter) Board Meeting will be Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m. at Ruckersville Baptist Church, 6 Moore Road, Ruckersville, (Rt. 33, crossover Rt. 29, take first left onto Moore Road, take immediate right.) We hope that you will be able to be with us on the July 20. If your church/organization has not signed a commitment to Membership Pledge, please prayerfully consider doing so. If GRACE’s ministry is new to you, we invite you to come and catch the vision; we will have the second quarter 2008 Reports on hand.
July 20-24
Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 3595 Grand Forks Boulevard, Charlottesville, off Airport Road, is having Vacation Bible School July 20-24. The theme is “Power Lab, discovering Jesus’ miraculous power.” Since everything is hands-on, children might get a little messy, so be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes. Power Lab at Laurel Hill is for children five and up; even teenagers enjoy signing-on as crew leaders who help younger children. Parents, grandparents and friends are invited to join us each night to share in the fun with their children. The fun starts each night at 5:30 p.m., when dinner begins being served; $2 per person or $10 per family. Registration will be open at 6:15 and children and their parents share in the closing fun at 8:45 p.m. So mark these dates. Stanardsville United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School (Surfin’ through the Scriptures) will be held Monday-Friday, July 21-25 with preschoolers VBS beginning at 5 p.m. with dinner and ending at 7:15 and VBS for kindergarten and up 6-8:30 p.m. At this beach party your children will become surfers riding the wave of God’s love and will experience beachcomber crafts, singing, rockin’ rec games, Bible-story time learning the beach ‘be-attitudes’ and tasty snacks and missions at the snack shack. Come and enjoy the surf and sand at Stanardsville UMC across from the courthouse in Stanardsville Monday-Friday, July 21-25. To register, contact Amy Wayland at 985-7466. Hope to see you there.
Shiloh Church of the Brethren, Middle River Road, (Rt. 667) will host revival services July 21-25 at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Garnett Myers from Pennsylvania as guest speaker. Special music each evening at 7 p.m., followed by the message at 7:30. Homecoming is Sunday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a covered-dish meal. Everyone is welcome. Tuesday’s Table, a ministry providing a free meal to anyone in need, whether the need is economic, spiritual, fellowship, or whatever (no questions asked) is held every Tuesday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Court Street (across from the Courthouse) in downtown Stanardsville. Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
