The 17th Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, at Grace Episcopal Church on the corner of Main Street and Ford Avenue in Stanardsville. This festive, buffet dinner will be served in the church’s parish hall from noon until two o’ clock pm. Home delivery meals are also available. Please call Grace Church at 985-7716 or Jenny Morris at 985-4332 for more information or to request a take out meal.

Stanardsville United Methodist Church invites all to attend, with our Body of Christ, the following Advent events. Each Sunday 10am Sunday School, 11am worship. November 30, 11am worship, 5:00pm, Hanging of The Greens; December 7, 11am service with Holy Communion, 5pm Lights of Love Service, 3 &7pm Greene County Singers Christmas Concert; December 21, 11am worship, 5pm Children’s Christmas Pageant; December 24 Christmas Eve Services, 5pm Lessons and Carols, Candlelight Service, 11pm Holy Communion Candlelight Service.

The Montpelier Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet December 4, at 11:00am at Mt. Nebo Lutheran Church, Rochelle for their Christmas Covered Dish Luncheon meeting. Bring your favorite covered dish to share. Each member is asked to bring a container of Homemade Christmas Goodies for the gift exchange. The program, “Our DAR Library-Finding Your Roots” will be presented by Sharon Steo, Chapter Registrar. She will also conduct a genealogical workshop at the meeting

Come celebrate “Christmas Joys” with us as the Madison Choral Society presents it’s program of Christmas favorites, old and new with choir and instruments. Included in the concert will be Kirke Mechem’s “The Seven Joys of Christmas,“ a sequence of clever and interesting arrangements of familiar carols. An audience sing-a-long is included in the program. Times for the concerts are Friday, December 5, 2008, at 8:00 pm at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church on Caroline Street in Orange, VA and Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 4pm at Mt. Swift Run Baptist Church is getting children connected to God; parents bring your children to join us for our exciting Children’s Church. Tuesday’s Table is a ministry providing a free meal to anyone in need, whether the need is economic, spiritual, fellowship, or whatever (no questions asked) and is held every Tuesday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Court Street (across from the Courthouse) in downtown Stanardsville. Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
