May 24
The 2008 Spring Hill Baptist Church Tour de Greene will be held Saturday, May 24. The run, walk and kid dash events start at 8 a.m. at Dover Foxcroft Farm and the bike rides are 25, 41 and 62 miles and start at 7:30 a.m.; parking at Spring Hill Baptist Church. Come and join Spring Hill at Dover Foxcroft Farm, as we run and bike our way to a better education for Greene County. Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Rt. 810, Dyke Road, will have a yard sale May 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Great bargains, also lunch and a bake sale.

May 25
Shiloh Baptist Church Women’s Day Program will be held Sunday, May 25 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Peggy Brice from Blue Run Baptist Church, Barboursville, as special guest speaker.

May 31
The Circle of Friends and Bumblebees and Butterflies youth groups at Stanardsville United Methodist Church will be offering something new at its annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, May 31. The children and adults will be hosting activities including a cupcake walk, tattoo station, nail-painting and slushies. Games include a duck pond, water balloon relay, putt-putt, beanbag toss and more. The activities will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; join us for some summer fun.

Shop and Shine Saturday, May 31 from 8 a.m. until at Gordonsville Baptist Church, corner of Gordon Ave. and High St., across from Food Lion. Come join us for our yard sale and while you shop have your car washed. Proceeds benefit the 2008 Gordonsville Baptist Church Romania Mission Team.

June 9-13
Vacation Bible School will be held June 9-13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 71 Shiloh Road, Stanardsville, for ages three to adults.

June 14
Spring Hill Baptist Church is holding a car show and chili cook-off Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have a classic car, truck or motorcycle you would like to display at the show or if you are interested in competing in the chili cook-off call Tom at (434) 985-2780.

October 25
The Women’s Ministry of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Tanners, will be hosting a trip to the Millennium Theatre in Lancaster, PA to see “In the Beginning;” a story about The Garden of Eden on October 25. Call Mrs. Jean Wood at 672-3717 or the church at 672-9065. (5-08)

Swift Run Baptist Church is getting children connected to God; parents bring your children to join us for our new and exciting Children’s Church. Tuesday’s Table, a ministry providing a free meal to anyone in need, whether the need is economic, spiritual, fellowship, or whatever (no questions asked) is held every Tuesday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Court Street (across from the Courthouse) in downtown Stanardsville.  Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
