‘Miss Greene County’contest to be held April 5

The Greene County Lions Club will sponsor the “Miss Greene County” Contest, which is a preliminary to the “Miss Dogwood” Festival Contest to be held in Charlottesville the later part of April. The contest will be held at the William Monroe High Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m. with the “Little Miss Greene” and “Little Mister Greene” contests. Any boys and girls interested in the “Little Miss” or “Little Mister” contest can pick up an application at their school. They must be in the first or second grade.
Girls who wish to enter the “Miss Greene County” Contest must be 16 years or older, unmarried, and a resident of the county for at least six months prior to the contest. Applications for “Miss Greene County” can be obtained from Dana Hodges at William Monroe High School. Admission price will be $5 per person; $3 for senior citizens; children under 5 are free.
“Miss Greene County” will receive a trophy and $100. The first runner-up, second runner-up, and Miss Congeniality will receive a trophy. “Miss Greene” will also represent Greene County in the Dogwood Festival. The winners of the “Little Miss” and “Little Mister” contests will receive engraved trophies. All Little Miss and Mister contestants will receive a trophy for participating. All winners will ride in the Dogwood Parade.
